About
Student Organization Success (SOS) Workshops aim to support student organization leadership teams by developing awareness, knowledge, and essential skills towards building a sustainable organization. These free, staff-led, monthly workshops focus on developing operational skills, such as: managing finances, recruiting and maintaining members, planning events, and more.
RSO Accreditation
All SOS Workshops are RSO Accreditation approved events. For more information on becoming an Accredited RSO, please visit the RSO Accreditation website.

The Office of Student Organizations, Leadership & Involvement (SOLI), along with UW-Madison, is committed to ensuring equal access to all the University’s programs. Fall 2026 Workshops
If you are looking for ways to fund your organization’s events, food, travel, advertising, and more, this is the workshop for you! At this Student Organization Success (SOS) Workshop, you’ll learn about different campus grants and how to best prepare your grant application.

Join this SOS workshop to learn about strategies, tools, and activities on recruiting and retaining members for your RSO! During this workshop, participants will also learn how they can effectively use the WI Involvement Network (WIN) to broaden their outreach. Participants will then use their learning to plan a mock recruitment event for their RSO!

How do you create a successful event? What makes an event successful in the first place? This SOS workshop features a panel of event programming experts from across campus to build your skills around planning, budgeting, marketing, and assessing your RSO’s events!

Spring 2027 Workshops
If you missed the fall RSO Grant Workshop or are an incoming RSO officer, this is the workshop for you! Come to this workshop to learn how you can fund your organization’s events, food, travel, advertising, and more! Meet representatives of the WI Experience Grant, ASM Grants, Multicultural Center Grant, Global Badger Experience Grant, and Find Your People grants! Our grant experts will teach you about which grants best fit your RSO, how much each grant offers, what they cover, and how to apply.

Sustainable organizations have an effective transition of leadership. Join this SOS Workshop to learn how to update your constitution/bylaws with SOLI, set clear expectations with transitioning officers, and develop a transition checklist personalized for your RSO!

Get ahead of your RSO’s taxes this year by joining this virtual webinar with certified tax professional, Amanda VanNatta, from Wegner CPAs! It is advised to read the Taxes and Tax Exemption page of the Student Organization Resource & Policy Guide (SORPG) prior to the webinar so you are prepared with questions. A recording of the webinar will also be available on the SORPG after the event.
