Resource Checkout and Reservation

The RSO Print and Resource Center offers resources for checkout or reservation by UW-Madison students! Most items may be taken out of the Student Activity Center for use elsewhere; all items may be borrowed for up to two days. See below for more information on the different resources available, the policies, and the costs.

Accredited RSOs: All check out and reservation fees are reduced by 50%!

Checkout/Reservation Policies

Please review these policies before borrowing an item from the RSO Print and Resource Center.

Standard Checkout/Reservation Fees

Checkout/reservation fees are determined based on the item and for how many days it is being borrowed. See the per-day prices in the menu above.

How to Pay – Workday Worktags (Reservations Only)

Reservation fees may be paid using a Workday worktag. If you are using a worktag, you will need to provide the worktag information and approving staff member’s contact information in the reservation form you submit. Submit the form at least 5 school days in advance. SOLI staff will confirm that the funding is approved to process the reservation. If there are any issues, SOLI staff will let you know.

Late, damage, and loss fees cannot be paid via a worktag and must be charged to a Wiscard or credit/debit card at the Front Desk.

How to Pay – Wiscard or Credit/Debit

If you are using a Wiscard or credit/debit card to pay reservation fees, you will pay at the Front Desk of the SAC (third floor of 333 E Campus Mall) when you pick up your reserved item.

Late and Damage Fees

All reserved items must be returned to the Front Desk by their due date and time. Items must be returned in the same condition (or better) than when picked up. Returning items late and/or damaged will result in additional fees starting at 200% of the item’s reservation fee (meaning that if you keep the item for an extra day, you’ll be charged twice the normal daily reservation fee as a late fee). If an item is not returned or returned in an unusable state, there is an additional fee of 100% of the item’s purchase price. These fees are listed in the Checkout/Reservation Item Costs spreadsheet.

Failing to return an item on time, returning a damaged item, or failing to return an item at all may also result in losing the privilege to check out or reserve items in the future.

Failing to pay any additional fees for late, damaged, or lost items will result in further action, including the possible involvement of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards or UWPD.

Reservation Duration

For all items, you may borrow them out for one night or two. The listed reservation fees are per night.

  • If you reserve an item for one night, it is due back to the Front Desk by an hour before close on the day after you pick it up.
  • If you reserve an item for two nights, it is due back to the Front Desk by an hour before close two days after you pick it up.

Button Makers

The Button Makers must remain in the SAC when reserved. They could be used in an RSO Office, reservable room, or in the common area. Removing one of these items from the SAC may result in being banned from checking out or reserving items and/or a referral to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards even if the item is returned on time.

FAQs

|

Yes. But it will not have an impact on the reservation fee. For example: Let’s say you reserve a 6-foot table on a Monday for one night. You could return it to the Front Desk on that Monday before the SAC closes, but the reservation fee will be the same as if you returned it to the Front Desk by 9PM (an hour before close) on Tuesday.

You must return all items during the SAC’s open hours:

Sunday – Thursday: 10am-10pm

Friday – Saturday: 10am-8pm

If you leave the items elsewhere inside or outside 333 E Campus Mall, they may be considered lost, and you will be responsible for paying the replacement fee.

Yes. Other students can drop off your items. However, if those items and late, damaged, or lost, you will be responsible for paying the additional fees.

When you reserve an item, you are agreeing to pay these fees if you return the item late, damage it, or lose it. If you do not pay the additional fees, SAC staff will submit a report to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) for further action. OSCCS can sanction you with paying the missing fees on top of any other conduct-related sanctions. Continued failure to pay could result in further disciplinary actions from OSCCS up to and including expulsion.

In some circumstances, SAC staff may also notify UWPD.

For current items, you can reach out to the Front Desk to check if an item is available. For items to reserve in the future, please see our Reservation Calendar.
